One year ended without any tension. Now it was March’07. Last year was a cool year for me. No big tensions, all the fun with the studies, I was loving Kota very much. We gave our annual exam of Bansal and 11th class exam of school, just for formality. On the basis of annual exam we were given the new batches in class 12th. After the exam we had holidays for one month. All of us were happy as were finally going to meet our parents, our school friends. I was happy but I was sad at the same time. No Vidhi, no Ayush, no Sumit for one month. I would miss them a lot, I thought. I went to Delhi with Mayank. After fifteen days results were out and I got B2 batch for class 12th. This time the batches were A, B, C and D. Ayush got B1 and Sumit, the intelligent one got A5. I don’t know what happened to Vidhi? She screwed her exam and got D1. The demotion from Q to B dropped a bomb on her house.
“Heloo.” It was Vidhi crying on the phone.
“What happened baby?” I woke up. It was 9 in the morning. In these two years I hardly remember that I woke up naturally.
“Maa mayyyy my mom.” Again started crying.
“Is everything alright?” I thought something wrong happened to her mom.
“My mom will come with me to Kota.” She said while sobbing.
“So what? They can’t sent you to Kota alone babu.” It was hard for me to figure out what had happened.
“No she will stay with me there only. My dad got job Australia so she will stay with be for one year and then we all will shift to Australia.” It was hard for her to speak.
“What?” It was drastic news.
“I have to go now. Call you later” and hanged up the call.
WTF!! What would I do in Kota without her? I was already missing her in just 15 days. How can I live without her for one year? It was eating my brain and my heart was laughing at it.
After 15 days I reached Kota with Mayank. I hardly spoke to him after this news. I told him about this but he said “it’s alright dude. We will find a way out.”’ But how? ‘I was not sure about this. I met Ayush and Sumit with a dull face and they said “saale, her mom will not be in the institute.” Yes they were right but now we had different batches. No phone calls, no evening walk, no treat in ‘Treat’, no eat in ‘Eatos’, no one to convince for ‘Convinio’, no cine at ‘Om Cineplex’, no tea at ‘Teena Tea Stall’. I was missing all the fun already; I was lying on my thinking about her only.
My beeped and showed a text saying “Shona don’t on my number until I call you back. Will call you back soon, Love you.”
She now lived with her mom and her younger brother who was in class 8th. He looked like her sister. His eyes were deep like her sister only. Anyone can guess that they both were from the same piece of the cloth. She went to buy some vegetables with his brother and messaged me to meet me at the vegetable market in front of TTS (Teena Tea Stall) and she asked me to act as we met accidentally after a long time and also to mind my limits. I reached there and struggling with an ox I finally entered the mandi. I saw her right there, buying tomatoes as red as her face. She was wearing a light blue color salwar suit and looked like a pretty south Indian girl. It was good to see her pleasant beauty after so many days.
“Hi are you Vidhi?” I asked her while passing.
“Ohh hi. You are? Sorry I forgot your name.” she was very good in acting I tell you.
“Siddhartha.”I said looking to her brother.
“He is brother Venkatesh.” I shook hand with the little champ.
“How are you?” I was about to say ‘bro’ but I stopped myself.
“I am fine. How are you?” he was so mature already.
“I am fine. So what do you do?” if you talk to the brother of our girlfriend he doesn’t doubt you.
“I am in class 8th. I was learning guitar in Kanchipuram but here I am not finding any teacher.” He was too comfortable with me. He too liked me I guess. In Vigyan Nagar you can never find a guitar teacher. It’s too odd to open a guitar class in middle of the hub of engineering coaching.
“Ya I can understand dude.” And as I was saying this an idea clicked my find.
“Hey I can teach you guitar if you like.” I used to play guitar in my school but after my class 9th I stopped playing it.
“Will you? I will talk to my mom.” He was so happy.
“Ya tell me when you want to learn.” I gave him my number, he was not knowing the fact that her sister was already having my number and too on her lips.
“Thank you “he said and gave me a smile. Vidhi was so happy that she slightly touched my hand as her brother was busy keeping the number in his pocket.
“Okay see you then.” Vidhi said and left. I waved her and gave the little champ a chocolate, no it was not spontaneous, it was all planned.
I was happy but the problem was to buy a guitar and to practice some chords and tabs. I did not have any idea from where to buy a second hand guitar; I could not afford a new guitar at that time. I reached my pg and searched for my trouble shooter, Ayush. I told him everything and he said “Relax dude, you will have the guitar in two hours.” As expected he knew some guys who sold the second hand guitar. He dialed a number and talked about 15 minutes. He came and asked “1500 bugs for two months used Guitar. Is it fine?”
“It’s perfect” I said. I would not teach him for free or her mom would doubt me. I thought.
I thanked Ayush and promised to give her a party. He like always showed me his middle finger and we went out for the Guitar shop.
“Hello.” It was Vidhi.
“Hi janu.” I said normally.
“Is it Siddhartha?” she asked me formally.
“No it is your dad.” I joked thinking she too was kidding.
“Hi. Actually I called to confirm that from when can you teach my brother?” Ohh so she was with her mom.
“Anytime for you janu. Muaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.” I was loving it that she can’t do anything how much I irritate her.
“Okay 8’o clock is perfect.” She was an intelligent girl. She knew that we could meet before 8, rarely but there were chances so she asked me to come after 8.
“Okay and my fees?” I joked though I was serious also.
“And what is you fees?” she asked like a client.
“I can’t charge your brother dumbo.” It was awkward for me to charge her brother.
“Okay 200 bugs per month is perfect. You can come from tomorrow.” She said and kept the phone.
I had to practice a lot I thought and I moved my hand on the chords. The sound was soothing like always. I was lost in it and played some songs on it. Ayush and Sumit were sitting next to me. They too got interested when they saw that I was coming into tune. I played the song as Sumit started singing…
Jaanieeeeee,
Heerieeeeee,
Mere man ye bta de tuuuuu,
Kis ore chala hai tuuuuuu,
Kya paya nai tuneeeee,
Kya dhoond raha hai tuuuu,
Jo hai ankahi jo hai ansuni,
Wo bat kya h btaaaaa,
Mitwaaaaaaaaaaaa kahe dhadkane tujhse kya,
Mitwaaaaaa aaaaaaa ye khud se to na tu chupaaa . . .
And my chords changing from E to A and back from A to E to Cm to D.
